On Monday night, Toronto’s style set stepped off King Street West and straight into the Aegean – no passport required. At Myth, whitewashed arches, woven pendant lights, olive trees and terracotta amphorae set the scene for Inside Life/Style, The Globe and Mail’s annual gathering of marketing, media, fashion and cultural tastemakers. The occasion: a celebration of the latest chapter in The Globe’s Life/Style offering, and the launch of Beyond, the newest issue of Style Magazine.
As travel-inspired signature cocktails made the rounds, guests caught up over mezze and charcuterie, with DJ (and Life/Style contributor) Odessa Paloma Parker spinning the soundtrack.
Throughout the evening, partygoers personalized Monos luggage tags, and one lucky winner left with a set of suitcases from the Canadian brand – a fitting touch for a night devoted to the pleasures of getting away.
“Beyond illustrates something very important about what we do and what we value. And that’s time. Time to find the right stories to tell. Time for reporting and research and investing in original photography and illustration that add richness to our stories.
“Our readers value quality and invest in their passions, and they trust The Globe to help discover and guide their buying decisions.” – Penny Hicks, Managing Director of Client Partnerships.
If any audience is ready to pack a bag, it’s this one – which made Beyond the night’s carry-on essential. The new issue takes travel as its starting point for a wider exploration of fashion, beauty, wellness, luxury living and personal style. Its cover is set along Tasmania’s Great Eastern Drive, shot by Australian photographer Bec Parsons and styled by fashion editor Nadia Pizzimenti.
Like any great trip, Beyond was a long time in the planning, as Editorial Director Andrew Sardone told the room. The idea of shooting in Australia first appeared in his inbox in December 2024 – about 15 months later, the team was on a plane to Sydney and Tasmania.
Inside, the issue moves from Sydney’s creative scene and the Yarra Valley’s winemaking country to a luxury train journey through the Malaysian rainforest, with detours to Esquimalt, B.C., and Dakar, Senegal, along the way.
It’s all part of The Globe’s ongoing commitment to its Life/Style journalism, aimed at meeting readers across a broader range of interests and occasions – from the everyday rituals that make life more delightful to the people, places and ideas that inspire a grander point of view.
Guests headed home with gift bags from the evening’s generous partners – Monos, Summer Fridays, Greenhouse and Glow – and a copy of Beyond to inspire their next adventure. For brands, it’s an open invitation to come along for the ride.
